The Corpus Christi Girls Golf Program is a Community Outreach project sponsored by Padre Isles Country Club, the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Club Partnership and is supported by the Executive Women’s Golf Association of Corpus Christi. The program is open to all girls in first through the twelfth grades in the Coastal Bend area.
LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, a developmental junior program, was formed to create a network for girls to learn to play golf, build friendships and sample competition in a positive, supportive learning environment. The only national initiative of its kind just for girls, the program provides the opportunity to achieve success, progress in golf and establish a life-long interest in the game. The girls learn the basics of the game including putting, short game, full swing, rules and etiquette. The next step is to experience play on the golf course and keep score.
The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf addresses the need for a positive experience and directs much of its focus to introducing girls to social competition. During this time, girls learn how to compete and then ease into the game. Social competition becomes the bridge between exposing girls to golf and having them play in a serious competitive event. The girls get a chance to develop friendships and learn how to conduct themselves at a tournament.
